Moving in with the kitten

I think the kitten likes it when I come home - there's another room for her to sleep in and she gets to explore all my stuff. This time it's like somebody built a maze out of boxes, suitcases and bags - just for her!

I'm trying to sort things out, making everything fit somewhere. Too much clothes I don't wear, too many books I've already read.

Kitten's acting funny. Wants to cuddle, then suddenly pounces on you.

Hmm...

Crap. She's got a tick in her ear. No wonder she's cranky.

Packing

I'm packing my room into suitcases, boxes and plastic bags.

As usual I have way too much stuff.

... I can't wait to get home!

Short shorts

Do not wear short shorts when out in the sun.

They leave weird tan lines.

*why don't I ever learn...*

Michael Jackson

Michael Jackson appears to be dead.

It all depends on which newspaper you read.. they say different things.
[English: CNN.com, BBC.com, Foxnews.com]
[Norwegian: VG.no, DB.no, Nettavisen.no]

One of Jackson's biggest hits, Thriller, was out in 1982, two years before I was born. So he's always kinda been, to quote BBC, "an odd-looking middle aged man". And, according to CNN; "the most famous person in the world".

Michael Jackson was one of very few people who were truly huge while I grew up. Someone the whole world knew. And no matter how I personally felt about him... it feels strange to let him go.

"Michael Jackson".

How long will people remember that name? Will he become a legend, like Elvis? Or will he simply become "that strange guy"?

I guess I'm just too young to have seen the good times.

And knowing the way the world works... I'll definitely go with the first.

Oh the Red..

Lying outside writing a report took longer than I thought.

When I went inside I took a look in the mirror and saw that on my shoulder I have a shape which looks like like parts of China, with Korea sticking out into the ocean.

And the ocean is blood red.

Lucky I always have Nivea After Sun, the smell of summer itself. Waiting till evening comes, having a shower and putting the lotion makes me dream of summer nights.

Almost Totally makes the red all worth it.

edit: I just check my front (and other bits) - I look like a friggin puzzle!

St. Hans at Midsummer

St. Johns Eve / Sankthans / Jonsok / Midsummer - whatever you call it, is celebrated on June 23rd in Norway.

We light bonfires, have barbecues, basically just enjoy ourselves and have a good time.

It's tradition for girls to go out and pick seven flowers, one of each kind, before they go to bed. They put the flowers under their pillow, and during the night they'll dream of the man they'll marry.

I've done that every single St.Hans of my life. Well, at least since I learnt about the tradition - which was probably as soon as I was old enough to walk.

Not that I ever dream of anyone (usually one of few night of the year I have a dreamless sleep). But it's tradition. Like eggs at Easter.

Only this year... I forgot. I didn't even think about it until now, two days later. It's a little like... knowing it's Christmas but forgetting to buy presents.

Sure, people would say I'm too old to still do it, but it's just one of those little things I like to do... like smelling all the lilacs in spring. There's no reason not to. It's just one of the many many little things that make me happy.

Such a perfect day...

It's sunny, warm (25C in the shade), just enough wind not to make it scorching.

I'm finishing up things for school, running around town sorting things out. But right now I'm doing nothing, just sitting on the veranda, enjoying my last days in Bergen.

Monday I'll be going home. I should be packing, but I just can't get myself to do it quite yet. Means I have to leave.

Creeepy!

Norwegian football (soccer) player Kristian Sørlie (32) has been convicted of using his status as a footballer to have sex with a 14 year old girl.

[Hmm.... 32 ... 14...]

The guy got 6 months in prison. And a fine to pay the girl.

Jeez... come on. You're a successful athlete, why on earth would you need to hit on a girl more than half your age, feeling her up, before two two weeks later sleeping with her?

You know it's illegal. You know she idolizes you. It was voluntary. Maybe she said she was older.

But still... Whatever reasons the guy may have had
- this is just creepy!

Longest Day

11:03PM
It's not the midnight sun, but it's not too far from it.

June 21st is the longest day of the year, the day when the sun rises earlier and sets later than any other day. Now it will start setting earlier and earlier, reminding us that summer only lasts so long, and we better enjoy every day.

Before long winter will be upon us yet again.

Danish Car Sex

It's not only Norwegians who have sex while driving.

Last night a Danish couple was seen having sex in the driveway. Shortly afterwards, their car was found on the side of a road, having crashed into various obstacles.

Sex in strange places comes with summer. And the warmer it gets, the less couples seem to care about being seen.

But come on people - try and wait until you're done to start the car, alright?

Topless is Out

According to Norwegian fashion experts it is "not trendy, cheap and very 90s" to sunbathe topless this year.

A survey from Denmark, typically a country with very relaxed attitudes towards nudity, shows that more than 50% of Danish women feel the bikini top should stay on this summer. Of course, the majority of Danish men (surprise surprise) still want the bikini top off.

Now, I can understand that some people might be offended by others not wearing bikini tops (...well actually I don't understand that at all, but for the sake of the argument let's say I do), but are we really supposed to be so concerned with fashion that we should be worry that our lack of bikini top says we're "cheap"?

Does our perception of morals, ethics, right and wrong vary with trends and fashion this way? If so, I can only feel very sorry for the lil fashion girls - must be exhausting to worry so much about what your bikini says about you!

Plus, I really can't imagine the fashionistas being in a rush to declare tan lines like those fashionable...

Here we go again...

I hate having feelings...

Stupid, stupid ex boyfriends!

Exhibitionism done wrong

In Tønsberg, Norway a couple has been spotted having sex outdoors several times the past two weeks. Yesterday they were seen near a beach, completely naked, surrounded by 10-12-year-old children watching.

Sex outside may be fun, and being watched might turn you on... but children? That's a little weird even for me. This couple was in their 40s and should definitely know better.

That said, I just loved the reactions from the people in the neighbourhood. Nothing wrong with sex outdoors, just sex in public like that. As one woman said - "just find a bush or something!"

Personally, I'd be way too worried about being spotted...

Iranian Election II

Mohammad Asgari, the man who leaked the true results of the Iranian election last week (where Ahmadinejad claims to have won) has just been killed in a "suspicious" car accident.

Eight protesters were killed Monday. Iran is not the kind of place where you just state your opinion and expect it not to have any consequences.

There are constantly more protests. Reporters have been banned from the country and photographers are risking their lives being out in the streets.

Are we witnessing the beginning of a revolution.... or will it all pass? Will the opposition win after all, or will the feared Revolutionary Guard be violent enough to convince Iranians it's better to be alive than to be free?

Drop and Drag

A young girl is hit by a truck, but when the police comes to the scene they can only find a bike and the girl's shoe.

A woman drives home from work, parks the car in the driveway and finds a young girl underneath it.

The girl who was hit must have been in the road until the second car came. The car then drove right over her, pulling her with it for three kilometers.

--- How is this even possible?!

How do you drag someone under your car for two miles without noticing?
It wasn't even that big a car!
Wouldn't the driver hear something? Feel something?

edit 2 (in English): It appears the woman driving the car did not speak English. According to the police she therefore called her husband to inform him of the situation. The husband then drove home from work, only to discover what had actually happened. The police has as of yet not been able to find out how this situation could have taken place, although the woman has told her side of the story.

The girl has been flown to hospital here in Bergen and her condition has been worsened the past 24 hours. We can only hope she will make it through. I think everyone reading the news and the stories about this case will all feel the same way.

Forest Fire

I'd been wondering why the city looked so blurry from my window today when I could smell smoke. With summer, heat and dry days comes forest fires and there's one not far from the city.

Fire fighters say it's out of control and they can only hope it won't spread down the mountain to the houses below. Luckily we don't have the big fires they have in Australia and California so it probably won't do much damage to anything other than the woods.

The air seems a lot clearer now, the wind must be blowing the other way but the fire is still spreading. Good thing the dry days are over for now - it's supposed to start raining today and keep doing so for a few days. Perfect timing.

Sex with an Ex

PROs:
  • The sex is always good
  • You know his likes and dislikes
  • He knows yours
  • No awkward moments
  • Not a lot of insecurities
  • No weird "I'll call you" conversation
  • The best friggin orgasm of my life!!

CONs:

  • Feels weird when he hints at having slept with other girls

As you can see... the pro-side wins hands down.

Which is good cuz I already did the dirty, and there ain't no looking back.
Strike what I said here and here - that was spring. Now is summer.

Sex with an Ex?
If you leave your feelings at the door, I'd highly recommend it!

Touched by Space

Girl: "How did you get that big scar on your arm?"
Boy: "This one? A meteorite grazed my hand when I was 14."

14 year old Gerrit Blank from Essen, Germany was on his way to school when he saw a ball of light on the sky coming straight towards him.

He heard a loud bang, felt a searing pain in his arm and saw the object bury itself into the ground. The meteorite was the size of a pea and left a big scar on his hand.

Now that's the way to get a girl's attention!

Obama's Absence Note

Written by Barack Obama at a meeting at Southwest High School in Green Bay, for 10 year old Kennedy Corpus who missed the final day of the semester to attend the meeting with her father.

Does he have the nicest handwriting or what?

Iranian Election

Iranians are electing their new president today. If either of the four candidates get more than 50% of the vote, he will be the winner. If not, the two candidates with the most votes will go through another election in a week or two.

The opposition and their candidate Mir Hossein Moussavi has had a lot of support, but a sitting president, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad in this case, has never lost an election.

The youth of Iran seem ready for a change, but the conservative forces have been strong the past decades.

Can we hope for a change? How far does democracy really go in a country such as Iran, with politicians fearing nothing more than becoming 'westernized'?

Summer Plans?

I think I'll be going home in a couple weeks. I'm not done at school until then, and getting a job for just one month will probably prove difficult.

The family is going away for two weeks in the middle of July so I'll be home alone with the kitten and the lil pig. Which sounds dreadfully boring... I don't think I've ever been home alone for more than a couple days before.

Any ideas how I can entertain myself this summer?

Fantasy turned Dream

Do you ever fantasize about people in a position of authority? Everybody fantasizes about something and this is probably an all time favourite - guys like nurses and school teachers, girls like policemen and fire fighters. Who do you fantasize about?

I had a fantasy-turned-dream about my doctor a few nights ago. One of those dreams where you truly hate your alarm when it goes off because it wakes you just as it starts getting good.

Lately I've also been having some dreams about people I've used to know through the years, but as far as I can remember they've all been rather innocent. I wonder how it would be like if one of those suddenly turned dirty... (I can only hope we'd all be grown up and not still 10!)

Summer Desire

As summer comes closer and it gets warmer, people are happier and clothes come off. Skin the colour of skimmed milk is exposed to rays of sunshine, hoping it will eventually achieve a more flattering shade.

It's been a few years since I've felt comfortable in a bikini, but a short skirt and a top does just as well. Sitting outside, whether it's on the windy veranda with a view of the ocean or on a lawn, feeling the grass between my toes.. I always wonder about the same thing.

How come feeling the sun high on my thighs always makes certain desires bubble up to the surface, little bubbles wanting to burst and set the desire free?

That feeling comes instantly when I'm in the sun, distracting me from what I'm supposed to be doing. I can't focus, my mind drifts off, filling up with quite pleasant thoughts. Making me dream of what summer might bring.

June

The weekend's been hot.

I've been inside writing a paper.

It's warm.

Now there's a hail storm.

I hope the hail will melt.

What's June without weird weather?

Missing: Father and Son

Three Norwegians were on the missing Air France plane and the names have been released. Among the missing are a father and his son. Why does the name Karsten Moholt sound so familiar?

It must be because it's the name of the company next door. I see it every single time I look out my window, and I've heard them working all day and all night the five years I've lived here.

It's eerily quiet down there today.

Missing: 1 Airplane

Usually there are photos, videos, eye witness accounts.
This time there is nothing.

Most times we're swamped with information.
This time no one knows.

It's strange. But at the same time its not. An airplane is big, but the ocean is huge. Capable of hiding anything. To open up and swallow it whole.

I feel for the families, not knowing is the worst there is. Unless you know what it's staring death in the face knowing there is no way out.

I did always want a funeral at sea, laid in a vessel set on fire. But not like this.
