Living in Salt Lake City, USA, the woman had not cut her nails since 1979. The shortest was, according to Wikipedia, 71.6cm (28.2 in), the longest 80cm (31.5 in).Apparently the nails did not prevent her from performing ordinary tasks around the house or caring for her aging husband suffering from Alzheimer's.
Tuesday this week the woman was in a car accident and all her nails broke. Her injuries were serious but not life threatening.
Two thoughts;
- How does anyone manage to get nails that long?
- Why would anybody want to do that??

* Nails grow faster in warm climates and fastest in the summer.
* Nails grow 20 percent faster when a body is fighting off the flu.
